Links to Literacy
Pi Phi's annual Fraternity Day of Service was March 2, 2008. The day united Pi Phi's membership in an effort to advance literacy. This year Pi Phi partnered with First Book for a "Make Your Mark for Literacy" campaign, hoping to raise 50,000 books. Chapters and clubs were encouraged to promote literacy issues by asking people to sign and personalize Pi Beta Phi/First Book bookplates. These bookplates will be placed in the new books donated in Pi Phi's name. For every signed bookplate, First Book will donate a new book, up to 50,000 new books, to children in need! Our club's Fraternity Day of Service event was held on March 1 at the Juan Tabo Public Library. Nearly 100 bookplates were created by kids and adults. The event was a big success and was mentioned in our Region newsletter.
